Let’s Talk History & Some Numbers
Each year our local Alumni Club raises money for our Scholarship Fund. These monies come to our club in various ways: individual donations received with membership dues throughout the year, proceeds of our raffles at events are usually targeted for the Scholarship Fund, our Annual Golf Outing, the use of a Luxury Schottenstein Suite in Value city Arena every January is a fund raiser, and from the past nationwide sale of the Personalized Beach Towels.
Part of this money goes into our Endowment Fund which is administered by OSU. This Endowment Fund was seeded with $16,000 in May of 1999 by several very generous West Michigan Buckeyes. Presently, with the annual contributions that are added each year, the value of this fund’s principal balance is approximately $40,000. This principal balance remains invested on our behalf, and the interest that is generated each year by this fund, is used to present merit-based Scholarships to deserving high school seniors from our geographical area who will attend OSU in the fall as a freshman. The other part of our fund-raising money is allocated into our Current Use Fund, which also earns some interest. The balance of this Current Use Fund is available to us, each Spring, for additional merit-based Scholarships. In the past 5 years from 2005-2009, we have added $22,500.00 to these two Scholarship Funds!! We would like to thank all of you who were able to contribute in any of these ways - and we look forward to your continued participation in the future.

So as a reminder – please continue to support our Scholarship in any of the above mentioned ways, plus be aware that any donations that you make personally to OSU during the year can be designated to either of our Club’s 2 Scholarship Funds, thus allowing our Scholarship Funds to continue their growth:
